From the moment he put pencil to paper, Jay Forbes knew he loved to write. He had a natural gift for descriptive writing, short stories and essays, but often skipped classes, just to get his thoughts onto paper.
A hip-hop fan from an early age, Forbes started participating in some freestyle sessions with friends. He did well, but immediately wanted to be better. At age 15, he began applying his writing skills to hip-hop beats, and the rest is history.
Based out of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, Forbes was one-half of local hip-hop duo "4-Ten". The pair recorded and released a full-length album, and several acclaimed music videos. During their four-year timespan, 4-Ten was shared the stage with artists like Xzibit, Swollen Members, and Moka Only. Having earned the respect of many fans on the East Coast, Forbes is now pursuing his craft as a solo artist.
The style in which he delivers his message is impactful, insightful, and deliberate. Forbes continues to write and perform, while constantly improving his game. In early-November 2014, Forbes released his debut EP, “Forbes 500." The EP was his first release as a solo artist and has helped shape his sound. Forbes recently released his debut album, "Only Time Will Tell”, which was out May 13th, 2016. Watch out for this rising star on the Canadian hip-hop scene.
