Born in Halifax, NS, Singing & Songwriting has always been a passion for Jocelyn that began at an early age. As a child, she was surrounded by the musical influences of a family that was deeply rooted in traditional country.
This love for music continued throughout her school years where she was taught classical violin since the age of 9 and a regular participant of choirs, orchestras, and musical theatre into adulthood.
Jocelyn continued her love of all genres of music through singing and writing, and she continues to grow and improve her style of songwriting in the Country/Folk/Americana genre.
Jocelyn has been influenced by many musical artists from Patsy Cline to Bonnie Raitt, from Miranda Lambert to Adel, and everything in between. The driving force in her writing style is a desire to cross and merge genres as well as lyrics to evoke deep thought and feeling in the listener.
In the beginning of her career, Jocelyn was the Executive Board Treasurer for SANS (Songwriters Association of Nova Scotia) and began showcasing her songs to welcoming audiences and continued to hone her craft as a songwriter and singer.
Jocelyn returned from Nashville, Tennessee in 2015 where she recorded an EP of her original songs at WarnerWorks Studio. Under the direction of producer Bill Warner, her songs were tuned to an original cross between traditional bluegrass and folk and has since been released to the public.
Fall 2016, Jocelyn was selected to participate in Bell Media's Club One New Release television series. The series showcases emerging talent across the Maritimes with live performances and interviewing select artists due to air Summer 2017.
Currently Jocelyn has been nominated for “Song Of The Year” in the Folk/Country/Americana category at the 2017 Josie Awards in Nashville, TN.
She continues to grow and improve her songwriting skills and continues to showcase and receive bookings for live performances and is working hard to grow a fan base in Canada, the US, and beyond.
