Kayleigh O’Connor would be the first to admit that her love for music stems from her love for making it. At just 18 years old, this singer/songwriter has brought a surprising depth to the world of indie pop music. As a young girl from Halifax, Nova Scotia, it’s fitting that she’s rising to the status of one of the most promising young talents on the indie scene. Kayleigh’s songwriting began early, starting with a piano and a unique ability to craft haunting melodies around her lyrics. “When I was younger, writing and playing piano were things that I kept close, my mind moves at a mile a minute and I remember always having so much to say but no idea how to say it. Songwriting gave me that. If you'd met me when I was 12 or 13 you would have noticed words didn't come easy to me unless I was singing them so performing was, well a new experience to put it lightly. However I've come to love the stage and the energy it brings."
Having just completed her debut EP in Nashville, in collaboration with Grammy-nominated songwriter/producers Rusty Varenkamp and Nicole Witt, the project displays Kayleigh's brilliant poetic sense as an indie pop lyricist. Whether the songs are fragile or strong in their emotional state, the EP remains powerful and passionate.
