The East Coast Music Association is currently seeking a Conference Manager for East Coast Music Conference 2017 located in Saint John, NB. The conference takes place during the 2017 East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference - April 26-30.

The Conference Manager will be responsible for designing, managing and executing all aspects of the conference activities and deliverables. This will include the preparation and delivery of all educational and professional development sessions and the recruitment of the industry conference delegates (speakers/panelists) and matchmaking services.

General Tasks

Working directly with the International Export Manager, Operations team and Artist Relations Manager, the individual will work with an advisory committee of music industry professionals on the educational and conference session development.

Specifically, the Conference Manager will lead or assist in the following areas:

  • Planning, management and implementation of the conference and international business development sessions.
  • Manage and execution of ECMA Mentorship Programs and Export Readiness Training Workshops.
  • Research quality speakers/panelists for ECMA Conference.
  • Liaise with Marketing and Communications Manager to design an International and Industry Conference marketing package and create communication plan.
  • Development and coordination of conference schedule and Industry Conference portion of our Event Guide.
  • Coordination and management of delegate bio information/photos for conference speakers and international export buyers program delegates (for all marketing purposes).
  • Coordination and management of the ECMA volunteer requirements for the Industry Conference and Export Buyers Program activities (liaise with the ECMA Volunteer Coordinator/Francophone/Conference Logistics Coordinator).
  • Work with International Export Manager to create and execute yearly conference membership surveys.
  • Prepare final report outlining outcomes, successes and recommendations for future programs.
  • Work with financial controller to manage budget lines.

Education and Knowledge

i. Education (preferred): College Diploma/Degree related to Event Management and Communications along with experience managing arts related conference.

ii. Skills and Abilities (preferred): Outstanding oral and written communication skills; significant customer service and negotiation skills; highly effective time management and organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure; strong logical thinking, and problem solving skills; must be a self motivated quick learner able to work independently within a team environment and maintain confidentiality at all times. Bi-lingual a definite asset.

iii. Professional / Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of music industry; computer/word processing skills; knowledge of event management and working with volunteers

Requirements:

  • Applicants must be able to work from home and be available to attend meetings at the Halifax Office when required.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, particularly during the East Coast Music Awards.
