The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) a registered non-profit association dedicated to the music of Atlantic Canada. The East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference is a five-day, non-stop musical celebration showcasing and recognizing the best of East Coast artists and music. The ultimate goal of this internationally recognized event is to position and promote it as the premiere music event for the public and the music industry in Canada and the conference of choice for artists and industry professionals.

It is the ECMA's mission to develop, advance and celebrate East Coast Canadian music, its artists and its industry professionals throughout the region and around the world. We advocate for our members to ensure they can sustain music careers while based in Canada’s Atlantic region.

Position Summary:

This position has overall responsibility for managing programs and relations between ECMA members (artists and industry professionals) and the East Coast Music Association. This position is accountable for ensuring accurate information is provided to artists, industry, and the public in areas related to the awards and stages submission process, programming, jury recruitment and coordination. Moreover, they will be the primary point of contact for ECMA members and potential members, and the key contact for all ECMA artist and industry submissions and related communications. Occasional overtime is required to accommodate daytime and evening activities. Travel is required within Atlantic Canada to attend meetings, conferences, and festivals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responding to member inquiries
  • Collaborate with regional Music Industry Associations
  • Responding to general public inquiries
  • Membership development, outreach and support
  • Database management and website upkeep
  • Managing Awards & Stages and the jury process for award nominations and showcases
  • Festival programming
  • Manage and develop collaborative partnerships
  • Oversee partner events and special events
  • Oversee award presentations during Awards Show and Industry & Awards Reception
  • Oversee ECMA registration

Skills and Experience:

  • Have strong organizational skills, detailed oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task and meet deadlines.

  • Be reliable, hard-working, conscientious and a team player with a positive attitude.

  • Proven interpersonal and leadership skills, experience with volunteer-run organizations and working with a Board of Directors; work well independently and with others.

  • Be creative, resourceful, flexible, and takes initiative.

  • Demonstrate appropriate problem solving capabilities, be able to assess and handle challenging situations.

  • A self motivated quick learner able to work independently and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Demonstrated ability in excel, word processing, database management, Marcato,  Google Docs and Dropbox.

  • Comfortable with latest social media trends.

  • Strong writing skills.

  • Strong understanding and experience with the regional music scene and event management.

  • Bilingualism an asset.

  • Media training an asset.
