Call for Submissions - Promotional CD
The deadline for submissions for the 2nd edition of the "Canadian Music. East Coast Style" Promotional Compilation CD's has been EXTENDED to MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 2008 5PM.
Distributed to 2000 International and Canadian delegates, these promotional CD's will be used to market and promote Atlantic Canadian artists at upcoming domestic and international music industry conferences (ECMA 2009, Canadian Music Week, North American Folk Alliance etc.) and will be distributed to print, media, radio, buyers, music industry representatives and film and television music supervisors.

The East Coast Music Association denounces Federal Cuts to Cultural Programs
The East Coast Music Association (ECMA) denounces the Federal government’s recent announcement to cut the ProMart (Arts Promotion) program administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT), and the Trade Routes Program run by the Department of Canadian Heritage. Both of these major programs support Canadian musicians and music export companies and organizations, and the announced cuts are a devastating blow to the ECMA and Atlantic Canada's Music Industry. read more
ECMA 2009 Submission Opening Date & Member Fee Increase
SHOWCASE & AWARD SUBMISSIONS for ECMA 2009 - taking place in Corner Brook, NL from February 26-March 1 - will open on AUGUST 28, 2008.
Complete details on submission information can be found here. Similar to last year, members will NOT be receiving the Awards & Stages Booklet in the mail. An on-line version will be available on our website on August 28th.
Effective August 28, 2008, the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) will be launching a new membership initiative. As part of this initiative, the ECMA will be introducing new member benefits and for the first time in eight years, an increase in member fees. Take advantage of the next few weeks to get your membership at the current rate – just in time for ECMA 2009 Award & Showcase submissions. For full fee increase details please click here.

Two Hours Traffic Make 2008 Polaris Short List
Big congrats to PEI's Two Hours Traffic (Little Jabs) who was announced as one of the top ten contenders for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize. The announcement was made today on CBC Radio 3 with Grant Lawrence.
Wintersleep's Welcome to the Night Sky as well as Buck 65's Situation made the top 40.
