Submissions for Awards and Showcasing at the 2022 East Coast Music Awards: Festival & Conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick, May 4 - 8, 2022, will open September 13, 2021. All Manuals for Awards and Showcasing submissions are available now for review and preparation.

WHY APPLY FOR ECMAs 2022?

  • ECMA is a well-known and reputable brand internationally. Receiving an ECMA award nomination is a prestigious accomplishment.

  • Get in front of domestic and international delegates/export buyers who are recruited and invited to attend the ECMA Conference and Showcases.

  • Grow your fan base by performing in front of thousands of music lovers.

  • In 2021, ECMA spent over $100,000 that went directly to artists. It pays to play!

  • Get business done with one-on-one meetings and other networking/business opportunities as part of the ECMA Conference and Export programs. In 2019, ECMAs last full-sized event before COVID-19, over 1045 meetings were scheduled between artists and national/international industry professionals. Many artists confirmed booking agent signings; festival/show bookings; sync and licensing deals; and much more!

ELIGIBILITY PERIOD FOR MUSIC & INDUSTRY AWARDS

(note: there is no eligibility for Honourary Award nomination submissions):

  • June 1, 2020 - October 8, 2021 (all awards except for the six categories listed below)

  • June 1, 2019 - October 8, 2021
    • African Canadian Artist of the Year, Blues Recording of the Year, Children’s Entertainer of the Year, Indigenous Artist of the Year, R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Global Music Recording of the Year

Recording(s) must be released within the eligibility period outlined.

Pre-orders: Recordings will also qualify if they are available for pre-order online no

later than October 8, 2021. Pre-ordered recordings (digital and/or physical copies)

must be available by December 31, 2021. ECMA may request proof of transaction.

ELIGIBILITY PERIOD FOR SHOWCASING:

  • June 1, 2018 - May 8, 2022

SUBMISSIONS PRICING

All music award submissions cost $20 CAD (with the exception of the free categories listed below), $20 CAD to submit to the Export Buyers Showcase Series, and $15 CAD to submit to the Breakout Stage, Rising Star Stage, and Genre-Based Showcasing.

It is free to submit to:

African Canadian Artist of the Year / Indigenous Artist of the Year

All Industry Awards / All Honourary Awards

NOTE: Applicants must be ECMA members in good standing, and will be invoiced directly from ECMA if membership is not in good standing.

JURYING PROCESS

All East Coast Music Awards & Showcases are fully juried by qualified regional, national, and international industry professionals. Jury Members evaluate applications, and score based on a set criteria / rubric (please see jury criteria section for more information).

  • After being juried, the nominees are chosen based on the 5 highest-scoring submissions per category. In the case of a tie, there may be more than five (5) nominees per category.

  • ECMA has 2 Fans’ Choice categories that are voted on by the public. These awards are first submitted for jurying and then shared with the public for voting.

    NOTE: No other awards are submitted for voting.

  • To be considered for awards and showcasing, an application must be submitted through the official application process.

  • The East Coast Music Association is soliciting its members and the general public for submissions for the 2022 Honorary Awards. A committee of the ECMA Board of Directors will determine the Honourary Award recipients.
