ECMA and BreakOut West Present: The “East Meets West” Spotlight at the 2022 East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference

ECMA and BreakOut West (BOW) are excited to partner together to present the fourth edition of the “East Meets West” collaborative initiative at the 34th annual celebration of the East Coast Music Awards: Festival and Conference in Fredericton, New Brunswick from May 4-8, 2022.

The ECMAs is one of Canada’s premiere music industry signature events and offers career development and showcasing opportunities for artists to elevate their careers and connect with influential music buyers and industry tastemakers from around the globe. The ECMA 2022 Industry Conference “Our Music Means Business” will bring

together some of the industry’s biggest and best minds to lead five days of seminars, workshops, mentorship programs, multi-genre showcases, and business meetings.

Celebrating its “20th Anniversary”, the 2022 ECMA International Export Buyers Program will welcome more than 150 talent buyers and industry tastemakers from Canada and around the world. Representing a diverse genre base of music buyers and industry experts these invited guests will include festival and venue programmers, presenters, booking agents, promoters, producers, music supervisors, sync agents, publishers, labels, and media from the United States, Europe, Australia and Canada.

The “East Meets West” collaborative initiative is designed to offer reciprocal business opportunities and provides access to new markets for Atlantic Canadian and Western Canadian exporting artists.

Two export-ready BOW artists/groups will be selected for two showcase performances at the 2022 ECMAs. Artists of all genres are encouraged to submit via this submission form. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, December 15. The successful applicants will be notified by January 14, 2022.

Criteria & Process

Select artists must demonstrate they are export-ready and the ability to maximize on this showcase opportunity. Artists must demonstrate past touring experience in the Canadian music market. This partnered initiative includes showcase opportunities at the ECMAs (and BOW), and touring exchanges between the two markets.

The ECMA award and stages programming committee will make the final selection on which BOW artists will be involved to showcase at the 2022 ECMAs.
